Developed with Sonia Sélaire Crescendo Nectar Anti-Age Serum is part of the Synfonie longevity skincare range: a targeted evening treatment shaped by two complementary philosophies - science-led formulation and sensory skincare.

Clinically tested over 84 days, the formula demonstrated statistically significant improvements in skin elasticity, the appearance of wrinkles around the eye area, and the visibility of brown spots, supporting a more refined-looking complexion.

Formulated around nano-encapsulated retinal and a selection of carefully chosen actives, Crescendo is designed to improve the appearance of skin texture, support hydration, reinforce the skin barrier, and promote a more even-looking skin tone over time.

Part of the Synfonie Skincare Maestro line, this serum is intended for those seeking a precise formulation, clinically supported results, and a skincare routine built on consistency and trust.

A Different Approach to Anti-Ageing, by Sonia Sélaire

“This skincare collection is the result of several years spent analysing the real needs of the skin. I developed these formulas based on my experience and on an approach built around a precise balance between efficacy and pleasure of use. This collection reflects my vision of skin longevity: skincare designed to support the skin’s evolution with high standards, sensoriality, and coherence.” - Sonia Sélaire

Crescendo Anti-Ageing Nectar is a targeted evening serum designed to address visible signs of ageing, including fine lines, uneven skin tone, and loss of firmness, through a carefully selected combination of clinically recognised actives.

Its light, nectar-like texture absorbs quickly, leaving the skin nourished without heaviness or residue. Designed to disappear on contact, it works beneath the surface where it is most relevant.

Powered by Retinal

At the core of the formula is retinal, also known as retinaldehyde. Retinal is a next-generation form of vitamin A, positioned one conversion step closer to its active form than retinol.

To optimise both efficacy and tolerance, the retinal is delivered through a nano-encapsulation system. This allows for a more controlled release on the skin, helping to improve stability and reduce the risk of irritation often associated with vitamin A derivatives, while maintaining visible performance over time. (1)

Supporting Actives

The retinal is supported by a complementary blend of actives:

  • Ceramide NP and sodium hyaluronate help reinforce the skin barrier and support hydration, contributing to improved skin comfort and resilience. (5,6)

  • Niacinamide and diglucosyl gallic acid are used in cosmetic formulations to help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and support a more radiant-looking complexion. (3,4)

  • Palmitoyl tripeptide-38, a signalling peptide, is commonly used in advanced skincare to support the appearance of firmer, more structured skin over time. (2)

The Result

A high-performance retinal serum with a peptide-based approach, designed to deliver visible results while maintaining skin balance.

Advanced Formulation: The Science Behind Crescendo Nectar

Science-Backed Formulation

Crescendo Nectar anti-âge is built around a selection of clinically recognised actives, supported by dermatologically controlled in-use testing.

In a panel of women aged 41–72 presenting with dry, inelastic skin, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven skin tone, the formula demonstrated statistically significant improvements in skin elasticity, periocular wrinkles, and brown spots after 84 days of use, with very good skin acceptability.

Retinal: Delivered Through Nano-Encapsulation

At the core of the formula is retinal, a next-generation form of vitamin A requiring one fewer conversion step than retinol to become biologically active in the skin.

To optimise both performance and tolerance, the retinal is delivered through a nano-encapsulation system. This allows for a more controlled release on the skin, helping to improve stability while reducing the risk of irritation commonly associated with vitamin A derivatives.

Published research suggests that retinal can deliver visible improvements in skin texture and the appearance of wrinkles, with results comparable to retinoic acid in certain contexts, while offering improved tolerability (1).

Peptide Support: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38

Palmitoyl tripeptide-38 is a signalling peptide used in advanced skincare formulations. In vitro data suggests it supports the synthesis of key structural components of the skin, including collagen types I, III and IV, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid, and laminin (2).

Tone and Barrier Support

Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is a well-documented ingredient in dermatology, commonly used to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, fine lines and barrier function over time (3,8).

Diglucosyl gallic acid, or DGA, is an advanced cosmetic active activated by the skin’s own microbiome. Once converted into gallic acid, it is associated with applications targeting uneven skin tone and oxidative stress, contributing to a brighter, more even-looking complexion over time (4).

Hydration and Skin Comfort

The formula also includes ingredients selected to support hydration, comfort and overall skin function:

  • Sodium hyaluronate helps bind moisture at the surface of the skin, contributing to improved suppleness (5).

  • Ceramide NP, a naturally occurring lipid, supports the integrity of the skin barrier and helps reduce moisture loss (6).

  • Tocopherol, also known as vitamin E, is a well-established antioxidant that contributes to overall formula stability and supports protection against environmental stressors (7).

  • Glycerin helps attract and retain moisture within the skin.

  • Olive glycerides provide a lightweight emollient effect.

  • Phosphatidylcholine, a phospholipid naturally present in cell membranes, contributes to both the texture of the formula and ingredient delivery.

How to Use Crescendo – Anti-Ageing Nectar

When to apply

Use in the evening only, on clean, dry skin. Retinal may increase the skin’s sensitivity to UV light, so evening use is recommended, alongside daily sun protection.

How often to use

Start once per week. Gradually increase to two or three times per week, then every other evening as your skin builds tolerance. Over time, the formula is designed to support consistent, near-daily use for optimal results.

How much to apply

A small amount is enough for the face and neck - roughly pea-sized, or 3–4 drops. Apply after cleansing and before moisturising, allowing the serum to absorb fully before the next step.

Morning care

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF as the final step of your morning routine while using this product.

Longevity Skincare Routine

A longevity skincare routine is defined not by excess, but by consistency, precision and the quality of each step.

Morning Routine

  1. Prélude Sublime Gelée - Begin with a gentle cleanse to refresh the skin and prepare it for the day.

  2. Apothéose Light moisturiser - Apply as the next step in your morning routine.

  3. C.O.D.A SPF - Always finish with sun protection.

Evening Routine

  1. Prélude Sublime Gelée - Apply to dry skin to help remove makeup, SPF and daily build-up.

  2. Crescendo Nectar Anti-Âge - Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin in the evening, before moisturiser.

  3. APOTHÉOSE Moisturiser - Choose based on your skin type:

    • Soin Caresse
A light texture, ideal for normal to combination skin, or for those who prefer a lighter finish.

    • Soin Velours
A richer texture, better suited for dry skin or when additional comfort is needed.

FAQs

1. How do I apply serum to my face?

Dispense a small amount onto your fingertips and press gently across the face and neck using light, upward motions. Avoid dragging or rubbing. Allow one to two minutes for absorption before applying your moisturiser.

2. What is a face serum and what does it do?

A face serum is a lightweight skincare product formulated with a higher concentration of active ingredients than a moisturiser. While a moisturiser primarily helps hydrate and protect the skin barrier, a serum delivers targeted actives,  such as retinal, peptides, and antioxidants, designed to address specific skin concerns.

In Crescendo, the use of nano-encapsulation helps optimise the stability and release of retinal, supporting both performance and skin tolerance over time.

3. What is the difference between retinal and retinol?

Both are forms of vitamin A. Retinol requires two conversion steps in the skin to become retinoic acid (its active form), while retinal requires only one - making it a more direct pathway.

This difference may allow retinal to deliver visible improvements in skin texture and the appearance of fine lines more efficiently than retinol, while maintaining good skin tolerance when properly formulated (1).

4. What do peptides do for the appearance of wrinkles?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules in the skin.

Palmitoyl tripeptide-38, the peptide used in this serum, has been studied for its role in supporting the skin’s production of structural components such as collagen, fibronectin, and hyaluronic acid (2).

Over time, this may help support skin firmness and improve the appearance of fine lines.

5. Can I use this serum with vitamin C?

Yes, but ideally at different times of day. Vitamin C works well in the morning for antioxidant protection, while retinal is best applied in the evening. Alternate between your morning and evening steps rather than layering them together.

6. Do I need sunscreen when using a retinal serum?

Yes - this is strongly recommended. Retinal may increase the skin's sensitivity to UV light, even when applied the evening before. A broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 should be the final step in every morning routine.

7. Is this serum suitable for sensitive skin?

Retinal is generally better tolerated than many other retinoids, but all vitamin A derivatives may cause initial sensitivity, particularly during the first weeks of use.

It is recommended to start with once-weekly application and increase frequency gradually as the skin builds tolerance.

The formula also includes barrier-supporting ingredients, such as ceramide NP, glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate, to help maintain skin comfort during use. It also incorporates diglucosyl gallic acid, an antioxidant active that contributes to overall skin balance, which can be beneficial when using potent ingredients such as retinal.

If you have a diagnosed skin condition or are under dermatological care, consult your dermatologist before use.

8. At what age should I start using an anti-ageing serum?

Many skin experts suggest the mid-to-late twenties as a reasonable starting point. Prevention is generally considered more effective than correction, and ingredients such as peptides, niacinamide, and antioxidants can help support the skin’s long-term quality before visible signs of ageing appear.

Daily sun protection remains the most important step in any anti-ageing approach. When combined with a consistent, well-formulated routine, it helps preserve skin quality over time and supports more visible, long-term results.

9. Can I use an anti-ageing serum every day?

With this formula, build up gradually. Start once per week, then increase to two or three times per week over the first month, depending on skin tolerance. Some users may progress to regular, near-daily evening use over time.

Consistency is more important than frequency - regular, well-tolerated use delivers the best results.

As the formula contains retinal, daily sun protection is recommended during use.

10. How long does it take to see results from a retinal anti-age serum?

Many users report noticing improved texture and hydration within the first few weeks of use. For more visible changes - such as a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, improved-looking firmness, and a more even tone - a consistent routine of six to twelve weeks is recommended, in line with the skin's natural renewal cycle.

11. Can I use this Anti-Aging Serum during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Retinal is a retinoid, and current medical guidance from the NHS and professional dermatological bodies advises against the topical use of retinoids during pregnancy and breastfeeding as a precaution. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, please discontinue use and consult your GP, midwife, or healthcare provider before use.

12. Has Crescendo Nectar Anti-âge been clinically tested?

Yes. In a dermatologically controlled 84-day in-use study, Crescendo Nectar anti-âge showed statistically significant improvements in visible markers of skin ageing. After 84 days, skin elasticity increased by 14.06%, periocular wrinkles decreased by 23.22%, and brown spots decreased by 19.22%. The serum also demonstrated very good skin acceptability, with no clinical signs or sensations of discomfort attributable to the product during the study.
