While every inch of Cornwall is beautiful and it’s indeed very true, people who live in Cornwall really are living a different kind of life, Polperro – the fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall, topped our list of the 50 coolest places to live.
This popular hang-out for artists is the perfect palace to watch the sunset, grab some drinks and relax in a sleepy seaside village. From Looe Island to the Duloe Stone Circle, Heritage Museums and so much more. This is the perfect destination for a quick summer getaway.
2nd: Norfolk – Wells-next-the-sea
Coming in at second place is Wells-next-the-sea, one of the loveliest towns in Norfolk. From the sweeping sandy beaches to the colourful beach huts on the harbour, you can find crabbing stations for children opposite the finest fish & chips on the coast.
Wells is the perfect, family-friendly seaside location with their very own Carnival, which takes place annually for residents and visitors.
3rd: Buckinghamshire – Marlow
Bagging third place is Marlow in Buckinghamshire, which is without a doubt, one of the nicest locations on the River Thames. Known for its natural beauty, Marlow has a lovely town centre made up of historic streets, offering an array of shops, restaurants, wine bars and pubs, which all add to Marlow’s charm.
You’ll know you’ve hit Marlow when you see the town's landmark – the graceful suspension bridge with joins Buckinghamshire and Berkshire across the Thames.
4th: Lancashire – Morecambe
Coming in last but certainly not least, Morecambe offers a chance to enjoy the many pleasures of the seaside. Whether it's flying kites, enjoying the views across the bay or building sandcastles on the beautiful sandy beach, there's plenty to do for all the family in Morecambe.
Stroll across Morecambe’s award-winning promenade with an ice cream in hand, and don’t forget to visit the iconic Eric Morecambe Statue. Also, make sure to book afternoon tea at the 1930s Midland Hotel’s balcony and look over the bay for a romantic treat.
5th: Liverpool – Baltic Triangle
home to many of Liverpool’s independent traders and made up of bars, cafés, an urban garden, an exhibition space, a live music venue and many more quirky alternatives to your average city centre, the Baltic Triangle is the ultimate quick getaway.
If you're a Peaky Blinders mega fan, you're in luck. Although based in Birmingham, much of Peaky Blinders is filmed in the Baltic Triangle and the Peaky Blinders Bar is situated there, so make sure to pop in for a drink during your visit.
6th: Somerset - Bruton: Bruton is known for its excellent food, contemporary art and beautiful surrounding countryside.
7th: Edinburgh -Leith: This buzzing port district is home to hip creatives and trendy waterfront bistros. Plus, the movie Trainspotting was filmed there.
8th: Bristol - Harbourside: A vibrant neighbourhood centred around the Bristol Feeder Canal is most well known for its quayside eateries.
9th: Cambridgeshire - Ely: Rising above the Cambridgeshire fens, Ely is one of the smallest cathedral cities in the UK. Fun fact: did you know The Crown was shot there?
10th: Cumbria - Windermere: This is one of the Lake District's most popular tourist spots. The hit children's movies, Peter Rabbit and its sequel, were filmed there.
